History of MA-1
With the advent of jet aircraft, flying was lifted to higher airspace. In 1955, the U.S. Department of Defense asked Alpha Industries (a famous American manufacturer of flight jackets and military uniforms) to produce a new flight jacket that was more comfortable, durable, and adaptable to various climate changes. Thus, the famous MA-1 flight jacket was born. Since then, MA-1 has been the uniform of the U.S. Air Force until it was replaced by CWU-45/P in 1977.
